Nofitech

The world has an increasing need for high-quality proteins produced with sustainable methods. Fish farming is part of the solution, but the industry has been exposed to a number of challenges related to animal welfare and the environment. Land-based farming reduces the environmental footprint for society and contributes to increased profitability for the farmers.

Nofitech designs and supplies solutions for land-based farming of salmon (primarily post smolt). Nofitech’s patented, module-based tanks are standardized and highly cost-effective, and let the fish farmers move all or part of the fish life cycle to land. This provides advantages in the form of increased production volume and a more sustainable alternative to traditional, sea-based farming.

Nofitech’s solution is world-leading and the company has many of the largest Norwegian fish farmers on its customers list.

Longship became the majority shareholder of Nofitech in 2018. Together with a large share of the employees, the two founders are still co-owners of the company and active in operations. In the first phase of Longship’s ownership, revenues grew from NOK 80 million to half a billion. The organization went from 12 to over 100 employees. In 2021, Summa Equity entered as the majority owner. Longship, founders and employees continue as minority shareholders.
